R & Y Augousti
| Husband and wife, Ria and Youri Augousti, met in London while attending different design schools 20 years ago. In 1990, they established "R & Y Augousti" and set about making a collection of "modern vintage" pieces heavily influenced by the 1930's Art Deco period. During this period, exotic materials were used to make furniture and decorative objects. These materials, including parchment, shagreen (stingray skin), ostrich, snake, crocodile and exotic shells such as mother-of-pearl, bamboo and pen shell. They have added metal casting, enriching their pieces and taking them to another dimension. They continue to mix unconventional fabrics drawn from their homes in Paris and the Philippines. | |
